Abstract

GERMAN: Ich sah meinen Herrn mit dem Auge meines Herzens und sagte: „Wer bist Du? “ Er antwortete: „ Du“. Ḥusain ibn Manṣūr al-Ḥallāğ Die Symbolik des Herzens ist in allen großen Religionen undÜberlieferungen der Menschheit von höchster Bedeutung, denn sie verweist auf Wahrheiten, die alles begriffliche Denken weit übersteigen. Allein der Geist kann diese Wahrheiten in einer mystisch-metaphysischen Schau erfassen. ENGLISH: first part of this paper focuses on the general significance of the symbols representing the truth, which are above thought and perception. The second part describes four attitudes of the heart, according to Tirmidhi’s treatise, Bayān al-farq bayn aṣ-ṣadr wa l-qalb wa l-fuʼā d wa l-lubb. In the last and the main part of the paper, Ibnʻ Arabī ’s doctrine of the mystical-metaphysical cognition and his teaching of “ the eye of the heart”, based on his Fuṣ uṣ al-ḥikam are explained.
