Abstract

The CASPIAN SEA is facing severe oil POLLUTION due to exploitation and transportation of oil. Although currently there is no oil extraction along the Iranian coasts of the CASPIAN SEA, however, during the last two decades Iran has been importing processed oil productions through the sea. Therefore, the coastal areas adjacent to the importing ports were exposed to oil POLLUTION caused by accidental leakage of oil at oil terminals or illegal discharges of oil wastes from different types of vessels.Anzali Port is the oldest port of Iran in the CASPIAN SEA which is located at the western part of the southern coast of the Caspian. The Port has always been very active with a large amount of shipping.Anzali port connects the Anzali Wetland to the CASPIAN SEA and consists of two rubble mound breakwaters which constitute the basin of the port.
