Abstract

The PARABLE, its definition, analyzing its rhetoical value, and its LITERARY POSITION are often discussed in the RHETORICS, esp. while talking about ALLEGORY. After surveying the ideas and viewpoints of the RHETORICS experts, one may conclude that the PARABLE should not be limited to the domain of "bayan" studies only. In fact, the PARABLE is related to the three sciences of RHETORICS, i.e, ma'ani, bayan, and babi', in this research. Based on an analytical approach, the position of parahles in the three sciences of RHETORICS and four techniques of "bayan", i.e. simile, figure, metaphor, and metonymy has been surveyed and determined.
