Abstract

HERMENEUTICS is a new science which is originated from the west, and studies the methodological principles of INTERPRETATIONs of those texts which by virtue of their nature are open to different and even contradictory INTERPRETATIONs It is especially applied to the INTERPRETATIONs of those texts of which their creators and probable audiences belong to differing schools of thought and ideology and hence it is not easy to arrive at a united and homogenous reading of their contents and messages.In the Islamic East HERMENEUTICS has generally been concerned with the needs to interpret the holy Quran and TRADITIONal texts, and more specifically with an attempt to get a better UNDERSTANDING of the textual subtleties of the PRINCIPLES OF JURISPRUDENCE, because it is believed that this kind of INTERPRETATION will help to achieve a better UNDERSTANDING of TRADITIONal reasons interweaved with textual principles. This relationship has gradually set the ground for comparative studies between HERMENEUTICS and principles of Islamic jurisprudence and conseyuextly several works have been published in this regard.The present article is the result of an attempt to study the relationship between these two originally Western and Eastern branches of science. The assumption of the writer is that, despite the fact that in order to better meat the needs of times, a revision in TRADITION from time to time not only becomes possible, but also inevitable, yet HERMENEUTICS and the study of the TRADITIONal principles of Islamic jurisprudence have nothing in common and more specially the former can not be utilized in the study of the latter.
