Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of transdiagnostic treatment based on the emotional adjustment by a religious-spiritual design on reducing the symptoms and improving the general function of the women with anxiety disorders. This study applied a single-subject research using multiple-baseline design with a follow-up. Through a structured clinical interview based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) and the purposive sampling, 3 women with anxiety disorders were selected. The analysis was done by the Beck's anxiety inventory, the occupational-social adjustment scale in the baseline stage, the intervention sessions, and the 1-month and 3-month follow-ups. The interventions were individually done during 12 weekly sessions. The data were analyzed by the visual inspection, reliable change index, recovery rate, and effect size. The results demonstrated that there was a decline in the anxiety symptoms and a considerable improvement in general function among 3 women. The same results were seen in the 1-month and 3-month follow-ups. Statistically, the effect size and general recovery rate of treatment were significantly calculated. According to the results, the transdiagnostic treatment based on the emotional adjustment by a religious-spiritual design is an effective transdiagnostic intervention for reducing the symptoms and improving the general function of the women with anxiety disorders.
