Abstract

Pragmatics as a branch of linguistics is used in the field of Qur’ anic exegesis to reveal the semantic dimensions of the verses at the level of serious intent and to interpret and explain the meanings of the short phrases while applying and based on conditions, time and place of the production of a phrase. The Holy Qur’ an constantly speaks of the issue of food, it’ s lawful or unlawful. This is always linked to one of the aspects of prophecy and mission, especially the need to follow the messenger and the chosen person from God, to avoid deviation. According to the verse Al-‘ Imran: 93, among the monotheistic nations before the revelation of the Torah, the issue of lawful and unlawful dates back to the religious leader. The pragmatic approach to understand this verse shows that the subject of food and eating is a multidimensional issue that is intertwined with different issues and concepts in the Holy Qur’ an. The concepts of monotheism and prophecy of the Prophet of Islam as well as choosing and then following the Imam or the leader are key concepts must be noted and considered here.
