Abstract

Formal statistics as well as popular and official talks infer that committing SOCIAL DEVIANTs is increasing among youths and ADOLESCENTS. Official crime statistics, however, always report the manifest part of SOCIAL DEVIANTs. It is possible to monitor to some extent, the hidden half of crime and SOCIAL DEVIANTs' reality by using "self-report" technique in surveys. Using SELF-REPORT technique, this article provides some pieces of information on the frequency of different types of SOCIAL DEVIANTs among ADOLESCENTS in Tehran. In this regard, firstly, the applied technique of this report, SELF-REPORT, is introduced and evaluated. Then, the descriptive findings on SOCIAL DEVIANTs, specially, CULTURAL DEVIANTs are presented and their relationships with some social variables are examined. And finally, regarding the high rate of committing CULTURAL DEVIANTs by ADOLESCENTS, the implications of the issue for CULTURAL PLANNING or cultural policy are discussed.
