Abstract

This qualitative study was conducted with the purpose of designing a pattern of family stability based on Islamic teachings by the thematic analysis method. The research data were gathered from three groups of texts, including the interpretations of the Holy Quran, Hadith books, and the books related to family stability with an Islamic approach. After coding the main data of these texts, the preliminary and organizing themes related to family stability were identified and after analyzing them, the main parts of the pattern of family stability were obtained. The pattern consists of 7 organizing themes and 27 preliminary themes. These themes are as follows: God-oriented family, kindly and friendly relationship, compatibility and tolerance, adherence to Islamic ethics, adherence to rights and duties, mutual sexual satisfaction, and good relationships between couples and their main families. According to the results, some preliminary and organizing themes of the pattern are not found in any theories of couples and family, and the roots of family collapse are ignored in this domain. This pattern can solve the family problems in Iranian cultural context and these themes have a capability to design a model of prevention and treatment.
