Abstract

The family is formed by the need for a psycho-emotional relation between humans which is rooted in their innate traits. This correlational study aims to investigate sociologically the relationship between the patterns of family education and the couples' intimacy. The population was all the couples in the city of Farashband, which their number was 10692 (according to the 2016 census), and 372 couples were selected as the sample by the multistage sampling. The data were collected by the questionnaire of the couples' intimacy scale, the questionnaire of religious orientation, the questionnaire of the pattern of parenting style, and a researcher-made questionnaire. The data were analyzed with the regression analysis and Pearson correlation coefficient. The results showed that there is a positive and meaningful relationship between the patterns of couples' family education and couples' intimacy and the patterns of family education are a good predictor of the couples' intimacy in the marital life.
