Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate the situation of social ethics in Tehran and to find the social factors that influence it. The main approach of this research is the integrated and multidimensional theory of social order. The research method was survey and the data collection tool was a questionnaire. The research population included men and women over 18 years of age in Tehran, 600 of whom were selected using multi-stage cluster sampling. The data were analyzed using the SPSS software. The results showed that social ethics variables of this study included responsibility-with an average score of 3. 01 out of 5 was at the medium range; fairness-with an average score of 2. 46 out of 5 was at the low range; and moral commitment-with an average score of 2. 83 of 5 was also at the medium range. The overall score of social ethics with an average of 2. 14 out of 5 was also at the low range. Based on the results, it can be said that people’ s loyalty to social ethics in Tehran is not at a satisfactory level. The results of step by step regression analysis showed that variables like national identity, religious identity and ethnic identity, and the age of people has an enforcing impact on social ethics. Education and length of stay in Tehran had negative effects on social ethics.
