Abstract

Anthropometry, the standardized scientific techniques of measuring human body was developed to make collection of data comparable. Craniometry is a branch of anthropometry in which the information from craniofacial variables enables a chronological study of the anthropological status of the nations and helps comparison of anthropological features of the today's nations and previous nations too.Craniofacial dimensions are affected by traditions, nutrition, environment, climate, genetic, racial, GENDER and age factors and they may contribute to the formation of craniofacial characteristics. Iran is an ethnically diverse country. A few studies performed on craniofacial dimensions in Iran. Hence, we under took this study to document the Craniometric characteristics and GENDER differences in cephalic and Prosopic indices of Iranian 18-35 years old male and female in Azad Islamic Arak University.Our results were shown that means of the most craniofacial dimensions in males and females were difference. It seems facial indexes but no cephalic ones carry much more information values in ethno-racial studies.
