Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of national pride on social adjustment with mediated cognitive emotion regulation Strategy. In this model, the national pride was assumed as a exogenous variable, emotion cognitive regulation Strategies were as mediator variables and social adjustment as an intrinsic variable. Therefore, five hypotheses were proposed. 263 undergraduate students (121 male and 142 female students) University of Mazandaran were selected through cluster sampling method. Then, three standard questionnaires, the national pride Questionnaire, social adjustment Questionnaire and Cognitive emotion regulation Questionnaire were used. Path analysis was used to examine the affection. The Results showed that in terms of direct effects, the standard beta of the path from national pride to of emotion regulation Positive Strategy and emotion regulation Negative Strategy at the level (p ‹ 0. 01) was significant. Standard beta of the path from national pride to social adjustment and from emotion regulation Positive Strategy to social adjustment is significant at the level (p ‹ 0. 01), but the effect of negative emotion regulation strategy on students' social adjustment is only significant at the level (p ‹ 0. 05). Also, mediating role of positive cognitive emotion regulation strategies in the relationship between national pride and social adjustment has been confirmed.
