Abstract

The present research was conducted with the aim of investigating and evaluating the work ethics theory in the Armed forces based on the foundations of the philosophy of science and sociology and employed a qualitative method. To this end, using library studies and semi-structured interviews with experts, the fundamental assumptions regarding the philosophical foundations of business ethics theory (ontology, epistemology, anthropology and methodology) and sociological foundations are identified, and following that based on objective-subjective and regulatory-change doctrine, the paramount fundamental paradigm assessment of the work ethic theory in the Armed forces has been evaluated. The statistical population of the study consists of senior managers and faculty members of leading academic centers in the Armed forces. The statistical sample was selected by purposive method from 11 persons. Data analysis was performed using the content analysis method. Finally, the results of the study indicate an objective-subjective approach to the theory of work ethics in the Armed forces from the perspective of philosophical foundations and a regulated perspective in explaining sociological foundations. Also, according to the proposal, the theory of work ethics in the Armed forces has been evaluated within the domain of the prevailing intellectual-functionalist views.
