Abstract

The present study aims to assess the mediating role of Meta-Emotion in the relationship between Infertility stigma and Psychological Distress with the Quality of Marital Relationship in Infertile Women. A total of 170 Infertile Women were selected among Infertile Women referred to Ahvaz University Jihad Infertility Center during the months of September to November 2018. The women completed Infertility Stigma Scale (ISS), the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K-10), Glombok-Rust Inventory of Marital State Questionnaire (GRIMS) and Meta-Emotions scale (MES). The research design of this study was correlation, through structural equation modeling. The results supported the suitability of the relationship between the patterns and the collected data. The results revealed that positive Meta-Emotion and negative Meta-Emotion mediated the Infertility stigma and Psychological Distress on Quality of Marital Relationship (p<0/05). However, the direct path of Psychological Distress with Quality of Marital Relationship and positive Meta-Emotion were not confirmed and the final model was removed. Based on the results, Meta-Emotion can be effective in controlling and managing the negative emotions caused by Infertility and the resulting Psychological Distress and ultimately leads to improved Quality of Marital Relationship.
