Abstract

The formation of the Fatemid regyme in MAGHREB (Northern Africa) in the year 297 (H.G) led to the adherence of masses toward their way of thinking. This raises a question as for how they managed to attract masses of followers in a remarkably limited period of time. Those who are in opposition to them maintain that FREE THINKING brought them the popularity they gained among their followers.A careful study of the FATEMIDS' movement in MAGHREB shows that in the period of their uprising, they revealed no signs of FREE THINKING. The thing is that the Sonnat religous leaders who opposed them spread accusations against them so that they could scatter the seeds of hatered in the Moslems hearts against the FATEMIDS. What has caused the spread of such accusations has been the religously unacceptable deeds and actions of Ghorameteh groups. The Sonnat religous leaders have not distinguished between them and the FATEMIDS. The FATEMIDS themselves issued confessions in their rejection of FREE THINKING done by Ghorameteh. Of most importance is, given that the role of religion has been absolutely dominant among the Barbarians settled in the west, FREE THINKING could never have got the chance of being practiced there, nor has it been the cause of popularity and great inclination of people toward them.
