Abstract

The purpose of this study was to design and elaborate a model of the effect of Individual Identity Dimensions on attitudes toward marriage through the mediation of marriage horizon components. The statistical population in this research is all single female postgraduate students in East Azarbaijan universities. A sample of 300 students was selected through stratified random sampling from the mentioned society. The design is of covariance matrix or correlation matrix (path analysis). The tools used for data collection were Attitude toward Marriage Scale (Park & Rosen, 2012), Ego Identity Process Questionnaire (Balistreri, et al 1995), Marriage Important Scale (Belt, 2016), Marriage Expected Age Scale (Willoughby, 2014), and Marriage Readiness Scale (Johnson et al, 2011). The results showed that the love identity component both directly and indirectly through the three components of the marital horizon, are related to attitudes toward marriage. But the component of work identity is only indirectly related to attitudes toward marriage through the component of expected age at marriage and marriage readiness. On the other hand, the worldview identity component directly and indirectly, through the marital importance component and the marital readiness component, improves attitudes toward marriage. marital horizons components is also related to attitudes toward marriage.
