Abstract

This article examines some social factors affecting the attitudes of university students towards imMIGRATION to foreign countries. To accomplish this aim, a secondary analysis of some data of the "Survey of Attitudes and Behaviours of State University Students" was made. The survey was conducted based on a sample of 1552 male and female students in 2001. The findings infer that 59 percent of the respondents moderately and 17 percent highly tend to MIGRATION, while only 23 percent of them do not think about MIGRATION at all. Positive attitudes to national community and religiosity were two variables, the prohibiting effect of which on MIGRATION tendency was confirmed. In contrast, holding a negative attitude towards social and political situation of the present and the future of the society, was found to be an encouraging factor to MIGRATION. In general, the inclination to MIGRATION among men and those of higher socio-economic status is higher compared to women and those of lower socio-economic status. Finally, for evaluation of the simultaneous effect of independent variables, a multinomial logistic regression analysis was used.
