Abstract

The present article starts with this presumption that western philosophy has always spoken through a binary logic. In other words, the philosophical definitions have been presented in terms of absence and presence and through the binary nature of a polar universe. I, in contrast, claim that the French philosopher, JACQUES DERRIDA (1930-2004), by challenging the verbal logic of the western thought from Plato until the present time, has established a new logic for his philosophical ideas. I have termed this the "paradoxical logic" and in order to illustrate this logic explain a few term in the philosophy of DECONSTRUCTION. Presenting this argument (the verbal logic of Derrida’s thought and its distinction from the usual logic of the western thought) will act as the first step and in fact a pre-requisite for an introduction to and an explanation of DECONSTRUCTION.
