Abstract

This article aims to present the findings of a social psychological study on the SUB-CULTURE OF PEASANTRY characteristics among members of RLES in East Azerbaijan and Kurdistan Provinces. A total of 359 member of RLES (186 in Azerbaijan and 173 in Kurdistan) have been drawn from 4503 members through a disproportionately stratified sampling technique. Using a directive - questionnaire and focused group discussion, detailed information about social, economic, and demographic backgrounds as well as SUB-CULTURE OF PEASANTRY characteristics of the respondents have been collected. Results indicate that the two groups (members of traditional RLES and members of modern RLES) significantly differ in terms of SEL, level of aspirations, SELF-EFFICACY, NEED TO ACHIEVEMENT (N-ACh), EMPATHY, MATERIALISM, FUTURISM and INNOVATIVENESS. However, they do not differ in terms of degree of FATALISM, SOCIAL TRUST and SENSE OF LIMITED GOOD.
