Abstract

DRY PORTs are intermodal inland terminals which have been established in several countries. In Mostly, there are direct and shuttle rail connections between DRY PORTs and one or more seaports. Wide part of services done in seaports can be presented in DRY PORTs such as custom clearance, storage, container stripping and stuffing, forwarding, container repair and maintenance and so on. Moreover, DRY PORTs also act as important nodes for attracting and distributing of cargo, especially containers. Regarding the general structure of DRY PORTs in various countries, These ports have major role in the arena of intermodal or multimodal transportation.In the present article, other than briefly introducing the DRY PORT history, the infrastructure of container and INTERMODAL TRANSPORTATIONs have been investigated from the viewpoint of experts considering the most important factors in feasibility of DRY PORT construction. Also, the comparative and analytical study of DRY PORTs is done according to annual information and statistics.
