Abstract

The Structure of financing mechanism in Iranian economy is formed by relying on the banking system of the country and in general the banks provid resources from private deposit accounts to the public sector. After the Islamic Revolution and following the nationalization of Banks, the government made the banking system duty bound to grant investment credit facilities to governmental, co-operative and private sectors and in particular in disadvantaged area with a view to increasing production and the supply of goods and services etc. In the decade of 1360 the figure of those facilities was not very high compared to other facilities of the banking system, but starting from the year 1370 and concomitant with structural adjustment program and the increase in the foreign exchange rate, the volume of Directed credit facilities increased considerably. In this paper the effects of these facilities on investment and economic growth during the period 1359-1375 have been verified. For this purpose economic techniques 3SLS has been utilized. The results demonstrate that the folloing hypothesis " the positive effect of the facilities on investment nad economic growth in the period under investigation" can not be rejected.
