Abstract

Though the clinical importance of SCOLIOSIS is associated with spinal deformity. SCOLIOSIS is obvious, the exact mechanism of the BALANCE dificits in this disease is not clear yet. The objective of this study was to evalute the dynamic POSTURAL CONTROL.and spinal deformity of these patients before and after EXERCISE THERAPY. Eleven patients with right thoracic idiopathic SCOLIOSIS with mean cobb angle of 23± 19 and 20 health subjects all femal and between 11 to 17 years of age participated in this study. The cobb angles and the body sway of the patients were measured before and after EXERCISE THERAPY and compared with normal subjects. Results showed that the cobb angles did not change after therapy. The postural sway of the normal subjects varied between 0.4 ±0.17 in AP to 0.30±0.14 in the ML directions. Similar results was observed in patients during before treatment period. Disturbance of the vestibular and the properioceptive system resulted in a significant increase in both groups. The index of the ration of coupled disturbance over single disturbance could distinguish between groups. In conclusion SCOLIOSIS is associated with a covered POSTURAL CONTROL.deficits, which can be reduced by EXERCISE THERAPY. EXERCISE THERAPY is recommended for both spinal deformity treatment and the POSTURAL CONTROL.improvement
