Abstract

The policy of PRIVATIZATION has begun from 1980’s in developed countries. This policy increased the EFFICIENCY of certain economic sectors of these countries. Also, this policy was followed by some developing countries such as Iran. This study aims to investigate the effects of PRIVATIZATION on EFFICIENCY of WHEAT STORING UNITS of Iran’s governmental commercial company.The research method of this descriptive study is a kind of cause and effect. In this study, a STOCHASTIC FRONTIER PRODUCTION FUNCTION is used for evaluation of EFFICIENCY in storing wheat. A software called ‘SAS’ is used for estimating this model. Time period of this research is 2003-2005.According to the results of the model, the coefficient of private companies units in EFFICIENCY of storing places is positive. Thus, PRIVATIZATION has direct relationship to functional EFFICIENCY of storing places. So the EFFICIENCY is increased when the private companies are involved in storing wheat. Based on the results of the model, the return to scale of WHEAT STORING UNITS is increasing.
