Abstract

Due to their impact on increasing job opportunities and production, services and the related trade in maritime economy are the most important factors. In addition to the aforesaid factors, Iran's accessibility to international waters provides the country with an appropriate prospect. Based on a long history, this valuable potential makes the country capable of playing an active role in trading between the Persian Gulf and other countries in the Far East, Near East as well as European and African countries. The above-mentioned advantages facilitate Iran's presence in the WORLD TRADE and naturally impose some obligations to be undertaken under non-membership conditions. This situation paves the way for developing proper strategies and procedures to provide necessary prerequisite for Iran's accession to WTO. Obviously, the WORLD TRADE Organization follows special principles and approaches. Hence, it is essential for the countries which wish to join WTO to recognize its principles and play a dynamic role to draft treaties and develop the multilateral trade. In this respect, firstly ports should obtain needed capabilities for implementation of WTO principles, secondly they should apply new experiences concerning WTO activities to meet their objectives and lastly they are to adapt to WORLD TRADE circumstances. Achieving these goals, which necessitates careful planning, requires to combine practice and theory together. This research which is presented on the basis of professional discussions with an expert group in Maritime Transportation, describes characteristics of adaptation to the WORLD TRADE principles. Also, there has been carried out a comparative analysis of some member countries to process and explain the procedures of accession to WTO.
