Abstract

GDP value and its growth rate are among most important macroeconomic performance indices and achieving to a high ECONOMIC GROWTH rate is one of the important goals of any economic regime. By the way, analyzing the factors that affect ECONOMIC GROWTH has special importance and is one of the important terms in the macroeconomics field. Literature Review of ECONOMIC GROWTH shows that one of the important effective factors on ECONOMIC GROWTH is macroeconomic stability; so that, nowadays economists agree that economic stability is a necessary condition for high and persistence ECONOMIC GROWTH.This study investigates the relationships between MACROECONOMIC INSTABILITY and growth in IRAN during 1965-2010. The results of VAR estimation of model show that there is a long term relation between MACROECONOMIC INSTABILITY index and ECONOMIC GROWTH in IRAN, so that MACROECONOMIC INSTABILITY in IRAN is a serious barrier for real growth and its persistence, so, stabilization of macroeconomics would be an effective step to achieve high and permanent ECONOMIC GROWTH rate in IRAN.
