Abstract

 THE AIM OF THIS STUDY IS TO INVESTIGATE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SELF-CONCEPT WITH SOCIAL GROWTH AND APPROVAL SEEKING DISTRICT. THY SCHOOL EDUCATION IS TEHRAN'S 4STUDENTS IN THE ELEMENTARMETHOD: THIS DESCRIPTIVE STUDY IS BASED ON CORRELATION.167 STUDENTS (67 BOYS AND 100 GIRLS) OF ALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN TEHRAN'S 4TH DISTRICT EDUCATION IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 93-94 WERE SELECTED BY USING CONVENIENCE SAMPLING AND RESPONDED TO QUESTIONNAIRE ON CHILDREN'S SELF-CONCEPT PIER HARRIS (1969), CHILDREN CONFIRMATION REQUEST K. M. TRYPATI AND R. AMBAST (1984) AND SOCIAL GROWTH MATURITY TEST DELL (1953). DATA WERE ANALYZED STEP BY STEP BY USING CORRELATION AND REGRESSION ANALYSIS.RESULTS: THE RESULTS SHOWED THAT BETWEEN SCORES OF SELF-CONCEPT AND APPROVAL SEEKING, STATISTICALLY 99%, EXIST SIGNIFICANT RELATIONSHIP. ALSO, ALL SUBSCALES OF SELF-CONCEPT, OTHER THAN APPEARANCE AND ATTITUDES, HAVE STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT RELATIONSHIP IN 99% WITH CONFIDENCE LEVEL AND 95% WITH CONFIDENCE (HAPPINESS). BUT THERE IS NO STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE TOTAL SCORE AND SUBSCALES OF SELF-CONCEPT WITH SOCIAL GROWTH. THE CORRELATION COEFFICIENT BETWEEN SELF-CONCEPT AND SOCIAL GROWTH (R=67) AND ALSO BETWEEN SELF-CONCEPT AND APPROVAL SEEKING (R=261), AND THE TEST RESULTS (T=60.2) EXIST SIGNIFICANT RELATION WITH A PROBABILITY OF 99%. WE THEREFORECONCLUSIONS: THE RUSALT OF, MORE CONFIRMATION OF CHILDREN DEVELOP A POSITIVE SELF-CONCEPT AND MINOR POSITIVE CHANGES CAN BE USEFUL IN INCREASING SELF-CONFIDENCE AND DEALING WITH THE PROBLEMS.
