SYNTHESIS OF CORE-SHELL NANOPARTICLES WITH TIO2 CORE AND UREA-FORMALDEHYDE RESIN SHELL VIA TWO MICROEMULSIONS METHOD

Abstract

 AMONG THE VARIOUS METHODS FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE NANOMATERIALS, USE OF MICROEMULSIONS IS ONE OF THE RELATIVELY ALL-ROUND TECHNIQUE, WHICH HAS THE ABILITY TO CONTROL THE PROPERTIES SUCH AS SIZE, SHAPE, MORPHOLOGY, SIZE DISTRIBUTION AND SURFACE AREA OF THE SYNTHESIZED NANOPARTICLES. THE PREPARATION OF THE VARIOUS TYPES OF CORE-SHELL NANOPARTICLES BY THIS METHOD HAS BEEN REPORTED [1].DURING THE RECENT YEARS, USE OF UREA-FORMALDEHYDE RESIN (UF) AS THE SHELL MATERIAL IN THE PREPARATION OF THE MICROCAPSULES USED FOR DIFFERENT PURPOSES SUCH AS CONTROLLED DRUG RELEASE, FOOD ADDITIVES, COATINGS, PAINTS, CATALYSTS, SELF-CLEANING SURFACES, AND ELECTRONIC INKS HAS BEEN GAINED A GREAT ATTENTIONS. INSIDE MICROCAPSULES WERE FILLED WITH SUBSTANCES SUCH AS DRUGS, OILS, VARIOUS REAGENTS AND ETC, WHICH WERE PROTECTED BY THE SHELL MATERIAL FROM ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGES AND CAN BE RELEASED IN CONTROLLED WAY AND IN DESIRED MEDIA. [2].THE AIM OF THE PRESENT WORK IS TO PREPARE HYBRID CORE-SHELL NANOPARTICLES WITH TIO2 CORE AND UF RESIN AS SHELL MATERIAL VIA TWO MICROEMULSIONS TECHNIQUE. STARTING WITH COMMERCIAL TIO2 NANOPARTICLES BY USING TWO MICROEMULSIONS METHOD, UREA AND FORMALDEHYDE MONOMERS CONTAINED INSIDE OF ADEQUATE MICELLES WERE POLYMERIZED OVER THE TIO2 NANOPARTICLES TO OBTAIN TIO2 NANOPARTICLES ENCAPSULATED INSIDE OF UF RESIN. IT IS EXPECTED THAT THE PRODUCT OF THIS METHOD MAY EXHIBIT A GOOD STABILITY AND UNIFORM SIZE DISTRIBUTION OF THE MICROCAPSULES.THE PREPARED CORE SHELL NANOPARTICLES WILL BE CHARACTERIZED VIA ADEQUATE TECHNIQUES SUCH AS SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY (SEM) OR TRANSMISSION ELECTRON MICROSCOPY (TEM) AND ALSO SPECTROSCOPIC TECHNIQUES SUCH AS UV-VIS, FT-IR AND THERMAL ANALYSIS TECHNIQUES SUCH AS DSC AND TGA, AND THEIR STRUCTURE WILL BE CONFIRMED.
