Abstract

 UNTIL NOW, MANY ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE ON DESIGNAND SYNTHESIS OF COORDINATION COMPOUNDS INCORPORATING PYRIDINE-2,6-DICARBOXYLIC ACID (DIPICOLINIC ACID, PYDCH2) [1]. THIS MAGIC AND SIMPLE ORGANIC COMPOUND CAN POSSESS MULTIFARIOUS BEHAVIOR WHICH HAS BEEN ALLUDED IN THELAST PAPERS [2].THE CAMBRIDGE STRUCTURAL DATABASE (CSD) ANALYSIS OF DIPICOLINATE COORDINATION MODES, WHICH HAS BEEN PERFORMED IN THIS PAPER, REVEALS BEHAVIOR DIVERSITY OF THIS MAGIC LIGAND TO METAL CENTERS. IN ACCORDING TO OUR STUDY, 52 COORDINATION MODES FOR PYDCH2 EXIST IN COORDINATION COMPOUNDS THAT LEAD TO CREATE VERSATILE STRUCTURES AND TOPOLOGIES. IN THIS REGARD, 21 MODES HAVE BEEN OBSERVED FOR HETERONUCLEAR COMPLEXES. AMONG DIFFERENT EFFECTIVE FACTORS, WHICH CAN PLAY ROLE IN THE ABUNDANCE OF MODES, CAN BE POINTED TO THE EXISTENCE CAPABILITY OF THIS LIGAND AS A NEUTRAL, MONO-ANION AND/OR DI-ANION STATES IN THE COMPLEX MOIETIES.TO PURSUIT OUR AIM BASED ON PYDCH2BEHAVIOR [3-6], A NEW COORDINATION COMPOUND, [CU2(PYDC)4(M-OH2)2(H2O)2K4].2H2O(1), HAS BEEN SYNTHESIZED AND CHARACTERIZED USING XRAY CRYSTAL STRUCTURE ANALYSIS. THE PERFORMANCE OF PYDCH2IN 1AND CRYSTALLINE NETWORK WERE ANALYZED AND WERE COMPARED WITH THE RESULTS OF CSD ANALYSIS. IN THIS REGARD, PYDC2- ILLUSTRATE THREE COORDINATION MODES IN 1 THAT ONE OF THEM HAS NOT BEEN REPORTED, UNTIL NOW.
