STUDY OF ANODIC OXIDATION AND SURFACE CHEMISTRY OF PAN-BASED CARBON FIBRES IN VARIOUS ELECTROLYTE SYSTEMS

Abstract

 THE ANODIC BEHAVIOR OF POLYACRYLONITRILE-BASED CARBON FIBRES WAS STUDIED BY THE METHOD IN VARIOUS ELECTROLYTE SYSTEMS SOLUTIONS. IN THIS STUDY, THE SURFACE OF THE CARBON FIBRES WAS TREATED BY CYCLOVOLTAMMETRY AND CONSTANT VOLTAGE IN DIFFERENT ELECTROLYTES SUCH AS: NAOH, AND HNO3. SOME EFFECTIVE PARAMETERS ON OXIDATION PROCESS SUCH AS TYPE OF ELECTROLYT, OXIDATION TIME AND CYCLOVOLTAMMETRY BEHAVIOR WAS INVESTIGATED. THE SURFACE CHEMISTRY OF THE OXIDIZED CARBON FIBRE WAS STUDIED BY ATR-FTIR AND EDX. THE ANODIC BEHAVIOR OF CARBON FIBRES WAS ALSO INVESTIGATED BY THE CYCLIC VOLTAMMETRY METHOD IN MENTIONED SOLUTIONS. GOOD RESULTS WERE ACHIEVED BY USING OF NAOH (10 WT%) AS ELECTROLYTE SOLUTION.
