DENSITY AND EXCESS FUNCTION CALCULATION OF BINARY MIXTURES USING MODIFIED GMA EQUATION OF STATE

Abstract

 RECENTLY AN EQUATION OF STATE IS OBTAINED FOR THE LIQUIDS AND GASES WHICH IS CALLED THE MODIFIED GMA (MGMA). THIS EQUATION OF STATE IS REPORTED AS [1, 2]:(Z- 1) V3= D(T)+C(T)/ R+B(T)/R2 (1)WHERE D(T) ,C (T) AND B (T) ARE TEMPERATURE DEPENDENT PARAMETERS OF EQUATION OF STATE THAT IS OBTAINED BY FITTING OF THE EXPERIMENTAL DATA. IN OTHER HAND, THE EXCESS FUNCTION IS DEFINED AS:M EXCE= M REAL – M IDEAL (2)THE EXCESS FUNCTIONS ARE IMPORTANT IN THE JUSTIFICATION OF NEW THEORIES OF LIQUID MIXTURES.ONE OF THE BEST AND MOST STRAIGHTFORWARD TOOL FOR MEASURING AND PREDICTING OF THE EXPERIMENTAL PROPERTIES (SUCH AS DENSITY, ENTHALPY, ETC.) IS USING THE EQUATION OF STATES THAT IS THE TRADITIONAL METHOD OF STATISTICAL THERMODYNAMICS.IN THIS WORK THE DENSITY AND EXCESS FUNCTIONS (GIBBS FREE ENERGY, ENTHALPY, ENTROPY AND …) OF SOME ALCOHOLS, HYDROCARBONS [3] AND REFRIGERATORS ARE MIXTURES CALCULATED BY MGMA, AND COMPARED WITH THE ACTUAL VALUES. IT IS FOUND THAT THE MGMA CAN PREDICT THE DENSITY AND THE EXCESS FUNCTIONS BY MAXIMUM 0.01% DEVIATIONS. FIGURE 1 SHOWS THE VARIATION OF EXCESS VOLUME BY THE MOLE FRACTION IN THE DIFFERENT PRESSURES FOR N-HEXAN AND CYCLOHEXAN IN THE 298.15 K.
