AZIZMANESH* DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY, FACULTY OF ENGINEERING, SAVEH BRANCH, ISLAMIC AZAD UNIVERSITY, SAVEH, IRAN; *E-MAIL: SOMAYE.AZIZMANESH17@YAHOO.COM CARBON NANOTUBES (CNTS) HAVE BEEN THE FOCUS OF EXTENSIVE RESEARCH IN RECENT YEARS DUE TO THEIR EXCEPTIONAL MECHANICAL, THERMAL, AND ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES [1]. TAMBURRI ET AL. [2] POINTED OUT THAT FUNCTIONALIZED CNTS WITH AMINE AND AOH OR ACOOH FUNCTIONAL GROUPS SHOWED ENHANCED CONDUCTIVITY IN POLYMER MATRICES DUE TO THEIR IMPROVED DISPERSION THAT WAS ENABLED THROUGH FUNCTIONALIZATION. FERROCENE-CONTAINING POLYMERS POSSESS VERY OUTSTANDING PROPERTIES INCLUDING AIR-, HEAT-, AND PHOTOCHEMICAL STABILITY [3]. THE HOMOGENEOUSLY-DISPERSED CARBON NANOTUBEPOLYMER COMPOSITES, WHERE THE CNTS WERE SUSPENDED BY THE ATTACHMENT OFNON-COVALENT FUNCTIONAL GROUPS, EXHIBITED DRAMATIC IMPROVEMENTSIN THE ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVITY WITH LOW PERCOLATIONTHRESHOLD [4].HERE, A NEW FERROCENE CONTAINING DIAMINE WAS SYNTHESIZED. CNTS WERE TREATED AND COATED WITH FE2O3. THEN, MAGHEMITE (G-FE2O3) /MULTI-WALLED CARBON NANOTUBES (MWCNTS) HYBRID-MATERIALS WERESYNTHESIZED IN A SOL-GEL METHOD (FIG.1). THEIR ANISOTROPIC ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVITIES AS A RESULT OF THEIR ALIGNMENTIN A POLYMER MATRIX UNDER AN EXTERNAL MAGNETIC FIELD WERE INVESTIGATED. SEM AND TEM PHOTOS SHOWED GOOD COMPATIBILITY AND HOMOGENEITY OF MWCNTS IN A POLYMER MATRIX.
