OPTIMAL TEMPERATURE PROFILE FOR PHENOL GASIFICATION IN SUPERCRITICAL WATER IN A BATCH REACTOR

Abstract

 IN THIS STUDY, A NON-CATALYTIC PHENOL SUPERCRITICAL WATER GASIFICATION (SCWG) PROCESS IS INVESTIGATED IN A BATCH REACTOR. THE MAIN PRODUCTS OF THE PHENOL SCWG REACTIONS ARE HYDROGEN, METHANE, CARBON MONOXIDE AND CARBON DIOXIDE. H2 IS DEFINED AS AN ATTRACTIVE ENERGY CONVEYOR DUE TO ITS POTENTIALLY HIGHER EFFICIENCY SO, WE PRESENT AN OPTIMAL TEMPERATURE PROFILE TO MAXIMIZE THE RATIO OF HYDROGEN TO CARBON MONOXIDE USING GENETIC ALGORITHM. THE RESULT SHOWS THAT AT OPTIMAL CONDITION THE RATIO IS 505.5.
