Title

THE EFFECT OF SALINITY ON GERMINATION INDEXES OF FOUR HULL-LESS BARLEY GENOTYPES

Abstract

 In order to investigate of the effect of salinity on GERMINATION of four Hull-les barley GENOTYPEs an experiment was conducted using a factorial arrangement in a randomized completely design with three replications in 2004 at Seed Research Laboratory of Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources. Four GENOTYPEs of barley consisting: ICB_118305(G1), 4679/105//VEA/32TH/ALGER(G2), ELDO/BERME_JO/5/CM67_B/CENTENO(G 3), CERAJA/3/ATACO/ACHlRA//HIGO(G4) were treated with different levels of water salinity (0, 0.15 and 0.3 molar of Nacl) during GERMINATION. In this experiment percentage, rate and uniformity of GERMINATION, time taken for cumulative GERMINATION to reach %10, radicle and shoot lengths and radical and shoot dry weight were evaluated. There was no significant G*S interactions for any of the traits, expect percentage and uniformity of GERMINATION. Significant decrease in rate and time lag of GERMINATION as affected by salinity to differing extents, but other traits were decreased only at 0.3 molar. Gland G4 were the most tolerant GENOTYPEs to Nacl.
