Abstract

 IN THIS STUDY ABSORPTION OF CARBON DIOXIDE INTO AN AQUEOUS OF PIPERAZINE ACTIVATED NMETHYLDIETHANOLAMINE NANOMETER-SIZED COLLOIDAL ALUMINA SOLUTION WAS INVESTIGATED IN A STIRRED VESSEL AT 30OC AND 1 BAR TO MEASURE THE ABSORPTION RATE AND VOLUMETRIC MASS TRANSFER COEFFICIENT OF CO2. THE CONCENTRATIONS OF NANO-OXIDE PARTICLE AND AMINE SOLUTION WERE IN THE RANGE OF 0-0.03% V/V AND 30% WT RESPECTIVELY. THE VOLUMETRIC LIQUID-SIDE MASS TRANSFER COEFFICIENT (KLA) OF CO2 WAS ESTIMATED BY USING FILM THEORY. THE USE OF AQUEOUS COLLOIDAL ALUMINA SOLUTION RESULTED IN INCREASING CO2 ABSORPTION RATE. THE ENHANCEMENT IN KLA WAS 36.42 % AT 0.001% V/V OF NANOALUMINA.
