TEMPERATURE AND COMPOSITION EFFECT ON THERMOPHYSICAL BEHAVIOR OF DIMETHYL CARBONATE (DMC) SOLUTIONS

Abstract

 INTRODUCTION: INVESTIGATION ON THERMODYNAMIC AND TRANSPORT PROPERTIES OF BINARY MIXTURES IS USEFUL FROM INDUSTRIAL AND THEORETICAL VIEW POINT. THESE PROPERTIES ARE REQUIRED FOR ENGINEERING DESIGN AND SUBSEQUENT OPERATIONS CONCERNING HEAT TRANSPORT, MASS TRANSPORT, FLUID FLOW AND PIPELINE SYSTEMS [1, 2]. MOREOVER, THERMOPHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF MIXTURES PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT THE MOLECULAR INTERACTIONS BETWEEN THE VARIOUS COMPONENTS AND CAN BE USED FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF MOLECULAR MODELS DESCRIBING THE THERMODYNAMIC BEHAVIOR OF MIXTURES [3, 4]. IN THIS PAPER, DENSITY AND REFRACTIVE INDEX OF DIMETHYL CARBONATE (DMC) AND 1-HEXANOL HAVE BEEN MEASURED AT ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE AND AT TEMPERATURE OF 293.15 TO 323.15 K WITH 5 K INTERVAL OVER THE WHOLE CONCENTRATION RANGE. FROM THE EXPERIMENTAL DATA, EXCESS MOLAR VOLUME AND EXCESS REFRACTIVE INDICES OF BINARIES ARE CALCULATED. ANALYSIS OF INTERACTION BETWEEN COMPONENTS HAS BEEN DONE USING THE OBTAINED RESULTS.
