THE FIBER DIAMETER PREDICTION MODEL OF ELECTROSPUN NANOFIBERS

Abstract

 THE EXPRIMANTAL DESIGN AND RESPONSE SURFACE METHODOLOGY (RSM) HAVE BEEN USED TO DEVELOP PREDICTIVE MODELS FOR SIMULATION AND OPTIMIZATION OF ELECTROSPUN BLEND OF POLYACRYLONITRILE AND POLY METHYL METHACRYLATE NON-WOVEN MEMBRANES. THE OBJECTIVE IS TO PREPARE ELECTROSPUN FIBERS WITH SMALL DIAMETERS AND NARROW DIAMETER DISTRIBUTION. FIELD EMISSION SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY (FESM) WAS USED FOR THE MEASUREMENT OF NANOFIBERS DIAMETER. THE RESULTS OF THIS WORK INDICATE THE PRESENCE OF INTERACTIONS BETWEEN THE PROCESSING PARAMETERS. THE DIAMETER OF THE PAN/PMMA NANOFIBERS WAS SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN THE VALUES REPORTED IN THE LITERATURE. THE MODEL CAN BE USED AS A TOOL FOR RESEARCHERS.
