Abstract

BACKGROUND: ADSORPTION TECHNIQUES ARE WIDELY USED TO REMOVE CERTAIN CLASSES OF POLLUTANTS FROM WATERS, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHICH ARE NOT EASILY BIODEGRADABLE [1-2].MOST INDUSTRIES USE DYES AND PIGMENTS TO COLOR THEIR PRODUCTS. DISCHARGE OF DYE-BEARING WASTEWATER INTO NATURAL STREAMS AND RIVERS FROM TEXTILE, PAPER, CARPET, AND PRINTING INDUSTRIES POSES A SEVERE PROBLEM, AS DYES IMPART TOXICITY TO AQUATIC LIFE AND ARE DAMAGING THE AESTHETIC NATURE OF THE ENVIRONMENT. [3-5] IN THE PRESENT STUDY, THE OLIVE LEAVES ASH, WERE USED AS A NEW NON-CONVENTIONAL AND LOW-COST ADSORBENT FOR SIMULTANEOUS ADSORPTION OF BASIC BLUE 41 AND BASIC YELLOW 13, IN A BATCH PROCESS...
