Abstract

IN THIS PAPER, WE CONSIDER THE PROBLEM OF ALLOCATION A SPARE COMPONENT TO EXISTING COMPONENTS IN ORDER TO IMPROVE A SYSTEM RELIABILITY. HERE, WE ASSUMED THAT THECOMPONENT LIFETIMES ARE DEPENDENT AND HETEROGENEOUS. ACTIVE REDUNDANCY SCHEME ISINVESTIGATED FOR 2-COMPONENT SYSTEMS. WHEN THERE IS THE (POSITIVE/NEGATIVE) QUADRATICDEPENDENCE AMONG THE COMPONENT LIFETIMES, THE RESULTS ARE SIMPLIFIED.
