Abstract

IN THIS PAPER, WE CONSIDER A SERIES OR PARALLEL SYSTEM OF INDEPENDENT COMPONENTSAND ASSUME THAT THE COMPONENTS ARE SELECTED FROM THREE DISTINCT BATCHES. UNDER SOMECONDITIONS, IT IS PROVED THAT IF THE NUMBER OF COMPONENTS CHOSEN FROM THE FIRST AND THESECOND BATCHES INCREASES IN THE USUAL STOCHASTIC ORDER THEN THE RELIABILITY OF THE SERIES(PARALLEL) SYSTEM INCREASES (DECREASES) IN THE SAME STOCHASTIC ORDER SENSE.
