THE IMPACT OF STUDY SKILLS INSTRUCTION ON FIRST SECONDARY EDUCATION GIRL STUDENTS’ ACADEMIC SELF-EFFICACY OF SHIRAZ, IRAN

Abstract

 THE BASIC NECESSITIES OF ACADEMIC SUCCESS IS HAVING ACADEMIC SELF-EFFICACY. THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY WAS TO DETERMINE THE IMPACT OF STUDY SKILLS INSTRUCTION ON SECONDARY EDUCATION GIRL STUDENTSACADEMIC SELF-EFFICACY. A QUASI EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH METHOD WAS USED. THE STATISTICAL POPULATION (N= 630) COMPRISED ALL GRADE EIGHT SECONDARY EDUCATION GIRL STUDENTS IN SHIRAZ CITY. USING A MULTISTAGE CLUSTER SAMPLING METHOD, TWO CLASSES WERE SELECTED AS THE STUDY SAMPLE (N= 70). THE INSTRUMENT USED FOR DATA COLLECTION WAS SELF-EFFICACY QUESTIONNAIRE (SEQ). THE VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY OF THE QUESTIONNAIRE HAS BEEN REPORTED AS ACCEPTABLE. DATA WERE ANALYZED USING DESCRIPTIVE INDICES AND INFERENTIAL TESTS SUCH AS THE INDEPENDENT T-TEST, ANALYSIS OF COVARIANCE AND ONE-WAY ANOVA. FINDINGS SHOW THAT ACADEMIC SELF-EFFICACY EVALUATION OF THE STUDENTS WHO RECEIVED STUDY SKILLS INSTRUCTION WAS GREATER THAN THOSE OF STUDENTS NOT RECEIVING SUCH INSTRUCTION.
