Abstract

The events related to the past tribes mentioned in the Holy Qur’ an show the Divine traditions that govern society, and the tradition of istidraj (a divine tradition of indulging sinners in His blessings and their oblivion of asking for His forgiveness before He gradually punishes and destroys them) is one of the most important. The realization of this tradition is due to factors that have a lot to do with the behavior of society and knowing those factors can prevent society from being saved from destruction and at the same time bring the tendency to spirituality and move towards the ideal civilization. In order to discover these causes, the present study has collected the clearest verses related to it and extracted the necessary data from them and analyzed and organized them through using the method of thematic analysis. In this study, the basic, organizing and comprehensive themes were carefully clarified using the thematic analysis method and became the maps of the website network. The findings of this study indicate that the awareness of society by divine messengers to guide people and save the guided people, disobeying the teachings and fighting the divine messengers and fruitless attempts to guide, the spread of infidelity, oppression and sin in society, depriving people of Allah’ s grace due to lack of circumspection and understanding of the condition, delay of torment until the appointed time are the causes of the tradition of istidraj.
