Abstract

Purpose: To identify the types and causes of spots and stains on the pages of a manuscript of SHAHNAMEH held in Sa' d Abad Palace Museum in Tehran.Method/ Research Design: Data was collected and analyzed by lab equipment.Findings: FTIR-ATR spectroscopy confirmed fungus stains. Also, micro- XRF identified the elements iron and copper. Both characteristics are FOXING spots. The sizing starch and tannic can be responsible.
