Abstract

Purpose: This study examines Archival Literacy among the Users of Archives in Tehran. Method and Research Design: 80 Users completed a researcher designed questionnaire the components of which were extracted from the literature. The reliability of the questionnaire was 0. 881 using Cronbach's alpha. The SPSS 21 statistical software was employed for data analysis. Findings and conclusion: The state of literacy among Users was relatively well-suited. Knowledge, evaluative and analysis skills, knowledge of rules and regulations, locating skills, and the level of originality were desirable. However, knowledge of the role of archivists and advanced skills were low. Also, a direct relationship was noticed between Archival Literacy and academic background and the length of use, whereas no relation was seen between the level of library literacy and academic background.
