Abstract:

In order to identify a potential baseline model for optimizing deep neural network (DNN) models for deployment in resource-constrained environments (RCE), this research presents comprehensive and empirical analyses of advanced DNN models. While DNNs perform exceptionally well in various applications, deploying them on RCE devices, such as wearables and mobile phones, is challenging. The article investigates several popular optimization models, including MobileNetV2, ResNet50, InceptionV3, DenseNet121, and EfficientNetB1. Each of these models is subjected to a comprehensive and empirical analysis, considering their unique characteristics, usability, efficiency, strengths, and weaknesses in the context of efficient deployment in RCE scenarios. The analysis aims to uncover how each model can be optimized to function effectively within the limited computational and memory resources typical of RCE devices. By examining these models, the research identifies critical factors that influence their performance on RCE devices, such as model size, computational complexity, and inference speed. The findings highlight the trade-offs between model accuracy and resource efficiency, providing insights into how DNN models can be tailored to meet the constraints of mobile and wearable technology. The review concludes by recommending EfficientNetB1 as a baseline model for future research aimed at developing efficiency-focused DNN models for image classification on RCE devices. This recommendation is based on EfficientNetB1's balance of performance and efficiency, making it a suitable starting point for further optimization in resource-constrained settings.

Abstract:

Red-cabbage extract (RCE) with its purple color in neutral environment, contains anthocyanin compounds and can act as an acid-base indicator. In this study, red cabbage extract in the form of liquid extract, dried cabbage powder, as well as paper, cotton, and sponge soaked in the extract were used as acid-base indicators. Then, the characteristics of the prepared materials were compared with each other. Compared to paper, cotton was more easily impregnated by RCE and quickly wetted in acidic/alkaline solutions. The sponge was easily impregnated by RCE, but didn’t show a high clarity of color-changes as a pH-identifier, because it cannot absorb much RCE due to its hydrophobicity. RCE can also be used directly as a pH-identifier and shows good color-changes in various acidities. Nevertheless, it was found that the use of dried red-cabbage powder as a pH indicator is more appropriate than the other pH indicators. This superiority of dried red-cabbage powder probably results from it's simple and easy production as well as its clear color-change in acidic and basic solutions. Additionally, this research could have positive effects on introducing the notions of acid, base, pH indicator, and bio-materials, it has also led to the creation of some experiments, which can be used in high-school labs for the purpose of practical teaching.

Purpose: To study the effect of phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK) in the treatment of various superficial corneal pathologies. Methods: We performed a nonrandomized, prospective study on patients who presented with superficial corneal disease and/or poor vision. Fifty eyes were included; recurrent corneal erosion (RCE): 25 eyes, Salzmann’s nodular degeneration: 9 eyes, spheroidal degeneration: 4 eyes, trachoma keratitis scar: 5 eyes, traumatic scar and pseudophakic bullous keratopathy: each one 2 eyes, macular dystrophy, herpetic corneal scar, and band keratopathy each of them 1 eye. All patients were treated with Nidek EC-5000 excimer laser. A central 4-8 mm ablation zone was determined by opacity diameter. Follow up ranged from 90 days to 20 months; mean 165±304 days for RCE group and 395±197 days for others. Results: Uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) improved from mean of 20/50 (log MAR=0.44) and 20/400 (log MAR=1.1) preoperatively to 20/30 (log MAR=0.2) and 20/120 (log MAR=0.78) postoperatively in RCE and opacity groups respectively. Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) improved from mean of 20/30 (Log MAR=0.22) and 20/200 (log MAR=0.96) preoperatively to 20/25 (log MAR=0.07) and 20/100 (log MAR=0.65) postoperatively in RCE and opacity groups respectively. Recurrent erosion dramatically reduces in RCE group. Conclusion: PTK can improve UCVA and BCVA in various superficial corneal pathologies and reduce spontaneous corneal erosions but proper case selection is crucial.

Background: Nowadays, there is increasing attention to the discovery of new bioactive substances from marine sources. This research aimed to characterize the phytochemical composition as well as antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of Tunisian Ruppia cirrhosa extracts (RCEs) using two different extraction methods. Methods: RCEs were obtained by two different extraction methods: maceration and successive extraction. The determination of polyphenolic contents and antioxidant activity was made by calorimetric assay, and the effect of RCE was observed against pathogenic bacteria and fungi using the solid diffusion method. Results: The successive extraction of R. cirrhosa extract relatively showed higher total phenol (38.1 mg GAE/g) and condensed tannin (18.07 mg CE/g) contents than the maceration extraction (35.43 mg EAG/g and 12.99 mg CE/g, respectively). However, the total flavonoid amount of RCE was higher in the maceration extraction (33.09 mg CE/g) than in the successive extraction (21.27 mg CE/g). The total antioxidant capacity of RCE indicated a decrease in this activity after fractionation. Indeed, the activity of RCE decreased from 47.8 to 37.83 mg GAE/g, and RCE obtained by the two extraction methods showed moderate antioxidant activity using reducing power (IC50=380-490 µg/mL) and β-carotene bleaching (IC50=110-310 μg/mL) assays. Furthermore, RCEs obtained by maceration had the greatest antibacterial activity against all tested strains (IZ=3.33-9.33 mm) except Salmonella typhimurium (IZ=2 mm), Enterococcus faecalis (IZ=6 mm), and Streptococcus aureus (3.67 mm) as compared to those obtained by successive extraction. The strains of Candida had a sensitivity for R. cirrhosa extracts obtained by maceration. Indeed, R. cirrhosa extracts obtained by successive extraction had higher inhibitory activity against Candida krusei deduced through an inhibition diameter of 6 mm. Conclusion: It can be concluded that R. cirrhosa extract is rich in bioactive molecules, and it has an extremely promising biological potential.

Abstract:

General equilibrium, as an important issue, was initiated by Wallrace in economics. One of the general equilibrium models, what is called Arrow-Debreu-McKenzie (ADM) model. In this model time differential and its effect on the concept of commodity is emphasized and exogenous money will be set pareto effincy in economics. The main question is: does monetary ADM using recursive approach, have pareto effincy in economy at RCE when the agents have hetergenous incomes in the form of intergenetational equities? This paper, uses analytical approach in a new viewpoint to criticize monetary ADM. The results have shown that because of the hetergenous structure, fiat money would not obtain pareto optimality. So new criteria, BAVA's criteria based on inter genetational aggregation is recommended. This contribution opens a new approach to theorizing of new field of endogenous monetary literature.

Objective(s): This study aimed to evaluate the anti-arthritic activity of Ricinus communis leaves’ and Withania somnifera roots’ hydroalcoholic extracts in Complete Freund’ s adjuvant-induced arthritis in Wistar rats. Materials and Methods: HPLC and FT-IR analysis detected pharmacologically important phytocompounds in both plant extracts. Oral treatments including methotrexate (MTX; 3 mg/kg twice a week) and extracts at 250 and 500 mg/kg/day were initiated after arthritis induction. Changes in paw swelling, arthritic score, body weight, organ indices (thymus and spleen), hematological and biochemical parameters, and pro-/anti-inflammatory cytokine expression using qRT-PCR were assessed. Oxidative stress markers in hepatic tissue were determined. Histopathological and radiological examinations were also performed. Results: RCE (R. communis extract) and WSE (W. somnifera extract) demonstrated a reduction in paw swelling, arthritic score, and restoration of body weight and organ indices. Hematological parameters, serum inflammatory markers such as CRP and RF, and liver function markers of arthritic rats were significantly (P<0. 01) ameliorated with RCE and WSE treatment. Both plants persuasively down-regulated IL-1β , IL-6, IL-17a, TNF-α , and RANKL and up-regulated IL-4, INF-γ , and OPG relative expression as well as alleviating hepatic oxidative stress parameters. Histopathological and radiological findings revealed a marked reduction in tissue inflammation and bone erosion in extracts treated groups. Conclusion: The study findings suggest that R. communis leaves and W. somnifera roots have markedly subsided inflammation and improved health through modulating pro-/anti-inflammatory cytokine expression and reducing oxidative stress.

Abstract:

Sheet metal forming is widely used in automotive and aerospace industry. In this paper analysis of sheet metal forming process by deep drawing was discussed. Static analysis on the deep d rawing operation was carried out to find the stresses, strains and total deformation of deep drawing cup. CAD models are generated using CATIA from the dimensions obtained by theoretical calculations and analysis is carried out using ANSYS software. The fo rce required to develop the cup, deformation and defect like tearing, wrinkles etc. can be obtained through simulation. By using this method it is easy to make stress and strain analysis for different materials. From the analysis it is observed that Titani um has the maximum stress with standing ability when compared to copper and Aluminum.

Abstract:

Introduction: Ceria and Materials based on ceria (CeO2-x) have attracted much attention due to many applications in different fields such as fuel cells, catalysis, etc.. Doping of some elements for example Sm, into ceria has improved some properties of this compound such as electrical conductivity, catalytic behavior, etc.Aim: Syntheses and characterization of Sm doped CeO2 nanotubes at room temperature Materials and Methods: Crystalline phases were determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and morphology of the prepared samples was studied by SEM and TEM. Elemental analysis of the prepared samples was carried out using ICP method. Results: The XRD patterns of the Sm doped CeO2 nanotubes were compared with that of CeO2 (JCPDS, 43-1002). Comparison of these patterns indicated that all samples had cubic flurorite structure. Sm-doped CeO2 patterns showed that Sm could be doped into CeO2 up to 50%. The EDAX and ICP analysis of the samples indicated that Sm was doped into the CeO2. The SEM and TEM images of the synthesized samples confirmed formation of Sm doped ceria nanotubes. The calculation of unit cell parameter (a) indicated that by doping of Sm into CeO2, “a” increased. This increase could be due to Sm ionic radii (rSmIII=0.96A), which is more than that of Ce (rCe IV=0.87 A).Conclusion: The XRD patterns of Sm-doped CeO2 showed that Sm could be doped into CeO2 up to 50% (This doping level is obtained in this work for the first time). By doping Sm into CeO2, lattice parameter of the unit cell of the samples (“a”) increased.

Abstract:

The prior relation extraction approaches were relation-specific and supervised, yielding new instances of relations known a priori. While effective, this model is not applicable in case when the number of relations is high or where the relations are not known a priori. Open Information Extraction (OIE) is a relation-independent extraction paradigm designed to extract relations directly from massive and heterogeneous corpora such as Web. One of the main challenges for an Open IE system is estimating the probability that its extracted relation is correct. A confidence measure shows that how an extracted relation is a correct instance of a relation among entities. This paper proposes a new method of confidence estimation for OIE called Relation Confidence Estimator for Open Information Extraction (RCE-OIE). It investigates the incorporation of some proposed features in assigning confidence metric using logistic regression. These features consider diverse lexical, syntactic and semantic knowledge and also some extraction properties such as number of distinct documents from which extractions are drawn, number of relation arguments and their types. We implemented proposed confidence measure on the Open IE systems’ extractions and examined how it affects the performance of results. Evaluations show that incorporation of designed features is promising and the accuracy of our method is higher than the base methods while keeping almost the same performance as them. We also demonstrate how semantic information such as coherence measures can be used in feature-based confidence estimation of Open Relation Extraction (ORE) to further improve the performance.

Abstract:

In the past thirty years, processing relative clauses in different languages has had an important role in linguistic and psycholinguistic researches. A common theme in experimental studies has been the comparison of performance on subject and object relative clauses. Moreover, the comparison of verbal abilities in normal and dyslexic children is one of the most important issues in the interdisciplinary field of psycholinguistics. Evidence shows that dyslexic children not only have poor phonological processing, but also show compromised performance in complex syntactic processing tests as compared with normal children. This study investigated and compared the comprehension of subject-subject (S-S) and subject-object (S-O) relative clauses in children with dyslexia and normal children. The Present study tested the predictions of three hypotheses and one theory including dependence locality theory, structural hypothesis, linear hypothesis and word order difference hypothesis. This study had a cross sectional, descriptive and comparative design. The study population consisted of third to fifth grade elementary students in Kerman in 2017-2018 academic year. Participants were 60 monolingual Persian-speaking students (mean age of 10. 5 years): 30 with developmental dyslexia and 30 normal children. Dyslexic children were selected by availability sampling and normal children were selected by table of random numbers. These students were evaluated by vocabulary pre-test and grammar pre-test. Two pre-tests measured comprehension of words and transitive verbs. In order to evaluate comprehending of two types of relative clauses, a picture-matching test with four alternatives was designed. One of the alternatives was the correct response and the other three contained main clause error (MCE), relative clause error (RCE), and double clause error (DCE). The error category was designed to provide insight into misinterpretations. The first category was MCE where only the subject-verb relation inthe embedded verb was interpreted correctly. The second error category was RCE, where only the subject relation in the main clause was interpreted correctly. The last category was DCE, where both subject-verb relations were erroneously interpreted. The test was designed by considering the viewpoints of experts in the Persian language. After preliminary analysis and eliminating inappropriate items, the final test was designed with eight items, which measured comprehension of S-S and S-O relative clauses. Reliability of this test was assessed by Pearson correlation coefficient. Pearson coefficient of 0. 96 was obtained. The test was conducted to compare each group's performance on each relative clause type. The children were tested in a quiet room individually. They were told to read out a sentence that matched only one of the pictures and their task was to choose the picture that the sentence had described. Preliminary instructions emphasized the importance of looking carefully at all pictures and being accurate rather than fast. Children's responses were scored according to one of the four categories. One was target response and the remaining responses were errors. At the end, data was gathered from two groups and three types of errors were analyzed. Afterwards, data were analyzed by Mann-Whitney U and Chi-squared tests. Results demonstrated significant differences between dyslexic and normal groups in the comprehension of both types of relative clauses (p≤ 0/0001). Dyslexic children performed weaker than normal children in two types of relative clauses, and the percentage of all three types of errors was higher in them. Moreover, children with developmental dyslexia encountered more difficulties in the comprehension of S-O relative clauses, and the percentage of all three types of errors increased in them. Children with developmental dyslexia and normal children fail to comprehend only one part of relative clauses. In S-S and S-O relative clauses, the most common error related to MCE, indicating that children cannot comprehend the relationship between subjects and verbs in main clauses. In both relative clauses, the least common error related to DCE, indicating that children cannot comprehend only one part of the relative clause. The percentage of all errors in S-O relative clauses was higher in both groups. Furthermore, S-O relative clauses were more difficult tocomprehended than S-S relative clauses, which confirmed structural distance hypothesis, dependence locality theory, linear distance hypothesis and word order difference hypothesis. The noted problems may be eliminated with further and earlier training for children with developmental dyslexia. Obtained findings from this study propose that in addition to phonological awareness, the syntactic ability of Persian-speaking dyslexic children needs to be improved. Due to the intrinsic limitation of our behavioral method, it is clear that more investigation, especially brain imagining, is warranted in order to characterize the nature of the deficit in dyslexic children more specifically.
