This study by determining viewpoints of nurses and physicians toward professional collaboration tries to determine the existing conditions and to fasilate collaboration between nurses and physicians.Material & Methods: This cross-sectional study assessed the viewpoints of 134 nurses and 66 physicians regarding interproffeshional collaboration in teaching hospitals of Tabriz-Iran. The data were collected by Jefferson questionnaire. Its reliability was 0.86 by using test- retest and its validity was received by content validity. Data was analyzed by SPSS-PC (v.13) software and using of pearson, One-way ANOVA and independent T test. Results: The results showed that the physicians’ attitudes toward profesional collaboration was not so good in physician’s dominance and nurses’ autonomy subscales. There were significant differences between the nurses' and physicians’ viewpoints in the subscales of: physician’s dominance (p<0.001), nurses’ autonomy (p<0.001), teamwork (p=0.003) and caring as opposed to curing (p<0.001).Assessing relationship between demographic variables of nurses and physicians and their viewpoint toward interprofessional collaboration showed direct relation between physicians’ viewpoint and their experience (p=0.008, r-0.42) but, this relationship was reversed in nurses and their viewpoint had been worse with increasing experience (p=0.03, r=-0.38). Nurses and physicians’ viewpoint toward interprofessional collaboration in I.C.U and C.C.U wards were better than general wards. Conclusion: Regarding the undesirable attitude of physicians in the physicians’ dominance and nurses’ autonomy subscales, providing training programs for nursing and medical students about professional roles with emphasis on professional communication skills during their educational courses is recommended.

Background & Aim: Menopause has been recognized as a critical stage in women’s life which has a significant impact on their quality of life. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of educational interventions based on individual empowerment model on knowledge, attitude, self efficacy, self-esteem and quality of life of postmenopausal women.Material & Methods: In a quasi-experimental study, 100 women covered by health care centers in Qazvin were randomly assigned to either experimental or control group. The data gathering tool included a demographic questionnaire, the Rosenberg Self-esteem questionnaire, self efficacy scale, Knowledge and attitude questionnaire and menopause-specific quality of life questionnaire (26 items). The procedure for experimental group consisted of five group discussions for 60-45 minutes according to empowerment model. Data were collected before and 3 months after intervention and analyzed by independent and paired t-test and chi-square using SPSS-PC (v.17.0).Results: After education, mean scores of knowledge (from 38.11±8.43 to 49.14±9.23), attitude (from 14.43±4.31 to 19.32±5.54), self- esteem (from 13.82±4.47 to 17.90±5.61) and self efficacy (from 14.42±5.43 to 20.06±6.12) increased significantly in the experimental group (P<0.001). Moreover, results showed a significant and positive reduction in the quality of life of the experimental group after empowerment program (P<0.001).Conclusion: Training programs using empowerment model to improve the quality of life of postmenopausal women is recommended.

Abstract:

Background & Aims: Regarding the prevalence of osteoporosis followed by Nephrotic syndrome in children, educational programs to prevent this disorder is required. The present study aims to compare the effect of osteoporosis prevention education by peers and health personnel on osteoporosis self-efficacy of adolescents with Nephrotic syndrome.Material & Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 54 patients (mean age 14.81±2.47) with Nephrotic syndrome, referred to the clinics affiliated to Shiraz University of Medical Sciences have participated. The subjects were randomly assigned into two groups either educated by peers or by health personnel. The osteoporosis educational program was conducted weekly based on the health belief model. Data was collected by Osteoporosis self-efficacy scale (OSES) immediately and 1 month after the educational intervention. Data was analyzed by SPSS-PC (v.15) using independent and paired t-test and RMANOVA.Results: The mean score of self-efficacy was increased significantly in both groups immediately after education (p=0.001). The scores declined in both groups one month after intervention. Reduction of total score in the peer group (p=0.13) and in health personnel group (P=0.46) was not statistically significant. Generally, no significant difference was found between those educated by peers or by health personals before, immediately and 1 month after education. It means that Peer education and health personnel education are equally effective. Conclusion: According to the findings, osteoporosis education program based on health belief model is effective either by peer group or by health personnel and has a significant effect on self-efficacy of adolescents with nephritic syndrome. Regarding the findings, continuation of this program would keep the required changes.
