The present research was aimed to investigate the roots of violence in Family. On the basis of the social learning theory, sociability of sexual role theory, and valuable sources theory, the degree of violence in the family in a sample of 400 married women in Jiroft city was studied.As such, based on a survey method, and sample was collected through a multistage cluster sampling method who completed questionnaires.Results revealed that social capital, sexual relation quality, husbands' satisfaction of sexual relations, level of women's awareness of their rights, and husband educational degree, can explain up to 78.6 percent of total variance of dependent variable.

Partner intimate violence is a known issue in all countries and cultures.The purpose of this study was to assess relation between partner intimate violence and romantic attachment style of women. To this end, 396 women who referred to Kermanshah Health centers were selected through convenience sampling and completed Spouse Abuse Questionnaire and Experiences in Close Relationships Scale.Stepwise regression was conduct and revealed that two types of attachment style (attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance) were predictor for victimization of women (p<0.1).Results suggest that a woman’s fear of abandonment and rejection and self-reliance in stressful times may be a risk factor for becoming a victim of violence.

Since determining the head of the family at the time of marriage contract is significant, in the Islamic Law, as well as, Iran’s Civil law, supervising and running a home as a legal duty and obligation is bestowed on the head of the family.Such a position is not considered as a personal advantage; rather, it is a responsibility and executive duty. This requires the recognition of special rights for the head of the family without which the proper management of the family affairs would be impossible.However, the individual may be tempted to abuse these rights in the family interactions.This study not only seeks the legal nature of the position held by the head of the family, but also investigates the prevention and solution to the problem.

The high prevalence of couple discord and its impact on disruption of emotional and physical well-being of partners and their off springs emphasizes the importance of strategies for treating conflicting and discord couples. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT) on increasing marital adjustment.Ten couples who were randomly allocated to treatment group and waiting list control group composed the sample. Couples in treatment group received 20 sessions EFT. All couples completed Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) at pre and post treatment and at 2 months follow up.Repeated Measure Analysis of Variance indicated that EFT increased marital adjustment significantly (P>0/001).In addition, there was no significant difference between two groups from post- treatment to follow up stage.Findings indicate that EFT increased marital adjustment at the end of therapy but effects were not persistent over the time.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of maternal and parental involvement, autonomy support, and warmth on adolescents` and self-determined motivation and academic achievement. For this reason 337 high school students were selected through multi-stage random sampling and completed Academic Motivation Scale (Vallerand et al, 1989), and Perception of Parents Scale (Robbins, 1994).The data from path analysis indicated that maternal involvement, and parental autonomy support and maternal, paternal and parental warmth via mediating the self-determined motivation had indirect effects on academic achievement. The results confirmed the mediating role of self-determined motivation between parenting styles and academic achievement.

The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between psychological separation and identity styles in college students.204 undergraduate students were selected through random cluster sampling. All participants were asked to complete Psychological Separation Inventory (PSI) and Identity Styles Inventory (ISG).In order to analyze the data, stepwise multiple regression method and canonical correlation were utilized.Significant gender differences in some of subscales of Functional, Emotional, and Attitudinal Independence were found; boys were significantly scored higher than girls. Attitudinal independence from father and emotional independence from mother, and functional independence of mother were strongest predictors of informational identity style among female and male students, respectively.The attitudinal and functional independence of father for girls and attitudinal independence from mother and emotional independence from father for boys can negatively predict changes of normative identity style.Furthermore, conflicting and emotional independence of mother can predict avoidance style of girls. These findings could be used in educational and psychological interventions for students in the context of Iranian culture.

This research designed to evaluate and compare effectiveness of stimulant therapy (Ritalin), neuro feedback, and parental management training on improving Attention Deficit/-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and parental stress index. This is a pseudo-experimental research with pretest-posttest design.Statistical population includes ADHD children of Tehran; 30 subjects selected randomly from clients of a professional child psychiatric/psychological clinic, and then assigned into 3 intervention groups based on objectives of the study. The subjects were measured by Connor's Parenting Scale-48 and Parental Stress Index before and after the interventions.Recruited data analyzed in two sections of descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings of the research revealed that there was significant difference in concentration and hyperactivity index of ADHD children between groups, indicating that Ritalin was more effective than PMT, and neuro feedback; there was no significant difference between them on impulsivity index. Also PMT and Ritalin were more profitable in improvement of reinforcing subscale than neuro feecback; and there was no significant difference between the treatments on parental attachment.
