Abstract

The high prevalence of couple discord and its impact on disruption of emotional and physical well-being of partners and their off springs emphasizes the importance of strategies for treating conflicting and DISCORD COUPLES. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT) on increasing MARITAL ADJUSTMENT.Ten couples who were randomly allocated to treatment group and waiting list control group composed the sample. Couples in treatment group received 20 sessions EFT. All couples completed Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) at pre and post treatment and at 2 months follow up.Repeated Measure Analysis of Variance indicated that EFT increased MARITAL ADJUSTMENT significantly (P>0/001).In addition, there was no significant difference between two groups from post- treatment to follow up stage.Findings indicate that EFT increased MARITAL ADJUSTMENT at the end of therapy but effects were not persistent over the time.
