Introduction: The equity distribution of health services is a major aim of all countries. Because, The present study was aimed to explore the manpower distribution of specialist physicians and nurses by population, and its relationship with the number of beds at public hospitals in Iran’s from 2000 to 2005. Methods: This is a descriptive- analytical, retrospective study. The data are analyzed using Excel Software by Lorenze Curve and Gini index estimation. To find out the relationship between manpower and the number of beds, a linear regression was used. Results: The highest and lowest proportions of specialist physicians; number of nurses, active beds per 10000 people per from 2000 to 2005 are provided. The Gini coefficient from 2000 to2005 for specialist physicians; (0.0876, 0.0874, 0.0909, 0. 0329, 0.0951, and 0. 0520); nurses (0. 0274, 0.0226, 0.0094, 0. 0002, and 0. 0007); and active beds (0.024, 0. 0171, 0.0208, 0.0251, 0.0212, and 0.084.) are provided too. We found a significant relationship between the rate of specialist physicians and nurses and the number of active beds (P-value=0 001). Conclusion: Equity distribution of specialist physicians, nurses, and active beds has been adhered in public hospitals. The findings of this study can provide useful insight for the country’s policymakers.

Introduction: Branding for health care services is a new phenomenon. Most of health care organizations have a few experiences on developing branding strategy. The aim of this study was to determine the relation between branding and functional indices in Qhaem hospital. Methods: IThis cross-sectional correlational study carried on during September 2008 until March 2009 period Study population includes Hospital Authorities in different sectors and offices and documents. Data are gathered by: interviewing with hospital’s authorities, reviewing the documents, and investigating the statistics. The analyzed by SPSS software. We used T-test to compare the groups when necessary. Results: We found significant difference between branding and average of changes on the hospital admission (P<0. 05), percentage of bed occupancy, average of Bed turnover rate and Bed turn Over Interval (P<0. 05). Conclusion: Branding has a positive effect on hospital's hoteling performance.

Introduction: Managers attempts should be focused on the processes to prepare clear vision from financial- economic behavior of organizations to maintain in dynamic and competitive environment. This study was aimed to analyze BEP situation inpatient units in ALFA Hospital at Qazvin University of Medical Sciences (QUMS). Methods: This Cross- sectional-Descriptive study was conducted in 2007 in ALFA Hospital at QUMS. Units listed to patient, clinical, and protection units; divided in two direct and indirect care units. Collected Data registered in information sheets, unit costs accounted by step by step amortization costs method to calculate revenue of centers. Patient records was surveyed and franchises paid by patients, insurer companies share and deducts in delivered services costs was considered in calculation and by using of required formulas BEP situation in centers was analyzed.Results: Direct costs were made %69.5, and indirect costs %30.5 percent of total costs related with patient units. Fixed costs were made %78.5 and indirect costs 21.5 of total costs. Average Revenue found for Surgical, Pediatric 1, Pediatric 2, Neonatal and NICU 1548000; for under observation and thalasemya and chemical therapy 485600 Rials per patient-day. Average cost of Surgical, Pediatric 1, Pediatric 2, Neonatal and NICU was 1051450 Rials; and for under observation and thalasemya and chemical therapy were calculated 552500 per patient-day. Surgical unit had margin of safety and other units had volume of activity less than Break even volume. Conclusion: Establish cost data center in hospitals is necessary for supervision and control of hospital costs.

Introduction: Health care professionals must have access to up to date, accurate medicine information in order to use them effectively and safely in patients care. Pharmacy information system is one of the most useful clinical information system a it’s key role in increasing of effectively and efficiency of pharmacy services and in quality improvement in drug therapy, This research was aimed to study pharmacy Information System in Hospitals Affiliated to Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. Methods: This is a descriptive study for pharmacy information system in above mentioned hospitals. Data were collected by a checklist and via observation. Content validity and reliability of research tools were measured by test-re-test method. Data are presented as descriptive statistics; that are limited to cumulative and relative frequency.Results: Total studied pharmacy information systems were semi-computerized. Data elements of drugs, patients and prescribers databases were entered incomplete in %50.1, %21.9, and %33 of studied hospitals, respectively. Tasks of pharmacy information system were not done in %43.9 of studied hospitals. Processes of hospital pharmacy information system were not done in %60.7 of studied hospitals. Reports of pharmacy information system were not prepared in %33.2 of studied hospitals. Conclusion: It is necessity to support processes from therapy activity of pharmacy in all of studied hospitals. Application of electronic hardware and software tools for gathering, processing, and distribution of information; would increase accuracy and speed carrying activities in pharmacy. Application of these tools improve of performance of pharmacies in studied hospitals.

Introduction: Introduction: Strategic planning is the first function of senior managers, because they can define future status of organizations, external and internal changes, to use opportunities productively. This study was carried out to assess strategic plan of Kerman Healthcare Insurance Organization by fuzzy approach. Methods: This is a descriptive-exploratory study, conducted as a case study. The information are constructed through a critical review of documentations on strategic planning, as well as, several interviews with members of planning committees to assess strategic planning process. The assessment forms are used for data collecting, presented by Tabibi & Maleki in their practical model. The data are presented as measurement of central tendency indexes. Fuzzy logic system approach (based on Mamdani Fuzzy system) was used for judgment and decision-making. Results: The sections of Planning for Strategic planning, strategies formulation and definition of assessment performance indicators had the lowest scores (0%), and values statement the highest Scores (83%). In the fuzzy system, P input score found Zero, SSMVVO input score 1.9 and POTSI Score 0.43. The score of output (SPO) determined “0. 547” by defuzzification step. The score of output (SPO) or the assessment of strategic plan was equal with 0. 62 represented in “reject of strategic plan” fuzzy set and a 0.42 in “strategic plan need change great” fuzzy set. Conclusion: Fuzzy logic provides a mechanism for assessing strategic plan which is too userfriendly, simplified and practical approach for senior managers to approve plans and control strategic planning process.

Introduction: This research was aimed to analyze mapping scheme of Traditional Iranian Medicine (TIM) with structure of common language of meta- thesaurus and Semantic network Unified Medical System Language (UMLS). The domain, location and relation of TIM in the UMLS is designed, and recitation of location and proportion of the TIM’s concepts are provided. Methods: This is a triphasic research: A) System analysis, B) Documentary Analysis, and C) System designing method. In A phase, the structure of UMLS and TIM are studied and UMLS structure is searched for the ideal location of TIM. In B phase, literature and resources of TIM analyzed, then three examples: “Urine color” sign, “Epilepsy” disease, and “valerian” herbal drug, with whole of their branches, was extracted from among of total category of TIM science are prepared. Finally in C phase, the B phase examples are mapped with the UMLS concepts. In this case, conceptual and semantically relations analyzed and some new semantically relation are proposed. Results: Output of this research is a prototype of TIM structure and its semantically relation with UMLS concepts in the Unified Medical Language System. Conclusion: Although the current domain of UMLS has been covered suitable number of TIM’s concepts, but UMLS cannot reflex complete and formal structure from TIM’s knowledge. The hierarchical structure of TIM is designed the based on international models,and the location of TIM science in UMLS structure and conceptual relation between TIM concepts and UMLS concepts are proposed for the first time.

Introduction: Concept of organizational health allows us to have an extensive image of organizational health. Managers' awareness of organizational health level can play an effective role in staff and official's success and succulence. This research was aimed to examine and determine established organizational health index in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences (IUMS). Methods: This is a descriptive study. Its statistical population are 872 persons from 7 headquarters assistance of IUMS in 2009. Simple random sampling is used, and 150 subjects are selected. Researcher's questionnaire was used for confirmation or rejection of hypothesis. Scoring was assigned by Lichert approach; its validity determined by college masters and experts, and its reliability by using of Cronbach's alpha coefficient (0.89). Data analyzed by SPSS software both descriptively and inferentially. Results: Established input index and process index of organizational health in IUMS was significantly lower, and the established output index was significantly more than average. Conclusion: According to systematic model it was observed that there are not necessary grounds for organizational health index establishing in IUMS. A warning of organizational health status makes shortcomings managerial weak, necessary reflective abilities become clear, and causes organizational affairs to be performed scientifically and expertly, and unwise matters are avoided. Applying competent individuals, attracting and employing them, relation communication and using information, supporting inventions and productivity, establishing training courses, popularizing organizational culture and individual participation could be effective for organizational health promotion.

Introduction: In the universities and academic institutes, most of the research activities are performed in departments and research centers, which are evaluated by measurement of indices such as number of academics and students, number of publications and patents, citation analysis, journals in which their reports have been published, the amount of grants etc. Methods: Academic department is considered as the evaluation unit of researcher’s activities. Two important parameters of departments’ “research focus” and number of academics who are active in the “field of focus” have not been considered in any evaluation systems yet. Results: In this article, two new indices entitled “subject h-index” (hs-index) and “researcher for subject h-index” (hrs-index) are proposed for measurement of these parameters. Conclusion: Both of suggested indices make the assessing and monitoring of research focus and active scientists feasible.
