This study aimed to investigate the nursing students’ initial clinical experiences. Methods: In this qualitative research, qualitative content analysis performed on 340 narratives and journals of junior nursing students on their daily clinical experience selected using goal oriented sampling method. Narratives and journals were written by 46 (32 female and 14 male) junior students of Fatemeh (PBUH) Nursing and Midwifery School in Shiraz, during October 2008 to February 2009.Results: The initial clinical experiences were emerged in 3 themes and 7 categories. The main themes were: Professional socialization (with 3 categories as: professional identity, professional belonging, and learning professional concepts and skills), personal growth (with two categories as: the lesson of life and spiritual growth), and internal reflection (with 2 categories as: satisfaction and intrinsic challenges). Conclusion: The findings reflect the importance of considering students' unique experiences; supporting them during professional socialization, empowering their personal growth, enhancing their professional belonging and satisfaction, and preventing the occurrence of intrinsic challenges by preparing them to encounter clinical settings. Reflection on clinical experiences through writing journals and narratives and prospective qualitative studies are also recommended.

Date gathering tools included3 questionnaire: the first for obtaining general information, second in regarded ill situation and third for measuring the QOL. Data were analyzed statistically byt -test, c2, Fisher's exact test, Wilcox on Test and Friedman test with using SPSS V.16.Results: In the first one year follow up. The mean score of CABG group were 60.087, 56.373, 57.679 and 90.75. According to the findings of the study, the quality of life of patients with CABG was improved in one year duration. Results also showed that quality of life of these people before, three, six and twelve months after the operation was a significant difference (P<0.001).Conclusion: Since the quality of life of patients three months after CABG is low and the treatment team need to teach their families and patients at this time backed to the emotional and physical.

Abstract:

Introduction: During Thalassemia, children should be under frequent blood injections to maintain their lives. The use of intra-vein cutters is one of the most prevalent and painful procedures, and children specially young children usually call it the most stressful aspect of their disease, hospitalization and even their outpatient visit. The present research is an investigation of the influence of familiarization play on the anxiety in the case of injection procedures for children before school age. Methods: The present study is a clinical experiment. The research sample consists of 60 Thalassemia children of 3-7 years old, possessing files in Thalassemia sections in Gilan Province. The participants were randomly divided into two groups (experimental group and one control group). In the experimental group, a familiarization play was carried out for 10-15 minutes prior to the injection procedure. The instruments used in the research include: Demographic Information Questionnaire, the Scale of facial self report of anxiety, and the Questionnaire of child clinical fear self report. The analysis of the data was carried out through SPSS and the statistic test: chi-square, t -test, Mann-whiney and Wilcoxon sign. Results: The data indicated that there was not a significant difference between the average scores of anxiety in the two groups prior to the treatment (P>0.05).However, after the treatment, the statistic test Mann-whiney and Wilcoxon sign showed a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in term of the average scores anxiety (P<0.05).Conclusion: According to the research results, the treatment of familiarization play is influential on anxiety decrease resulted from the injection procedures in children. Therefore it is suggested that child nurses use the method of familiarization play in order to comfort of children with acute and chronic diseases who are frequently under treatment measures.

Using SF-36 questionnaire, 8 items of quality of life were measured according to the respondents' perceptions. Data were analyzed statistically by using SPSS Version … according to parametric and nonparametric (Mann-Whitney U test). Results: Participants at each group consisted of 64 males and 36 females with a mean age of 57 year-of-old that the majority of them were low literacy, and the majority of women were housewife. The non-parametric analysis (Mann-Whitney U Test) indicated that seven items of quality of life such as Physical Functioning (PF), Role Physical (RP), General Health (GH), Vitality (VT), Social Functioning (SF), Role Emotional (RF), and Mental Health (MH) between these two groups of study were statistically significant (P<0.005). In case, Bodily Pain (BP) was not significant statistically between two groups of study. Conclusion: The findings indicated despite of curing after myocardial infarction, there is a considerable decrease in the quality of life level of the patients which in turn call for effective follow-up and rehabilitative programs by all of the health care providers such as nurses and physicians.

Abstract:

Introduction: Utilizing appropriate approaches to study and learning can be improved student academic performance. This study was designed to investigate the study and learning approaches used by of Nursing and Midwifery students in AJUMS.Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out on 165 of Nursing and Midwifery students in 2010. The Approaches to Study Skills Inventory for Students (ASSIST) questionnaire was administered. The questionnaire includes 52 questions that assessed the study of different methods of deep, strategic and surface approaches.Questionnaire content validity was confirmed by experts and its reliability with Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the three deep approach, strategic and surface was calculated 0.76, 0.85 and 0.64, respectively. Data was analysed by SPSS-15 software and descriptive and analytical chi square test and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: The frequency of deep, strategies and surface approaches of nursing students was 28.6%, 46.4% and 25.0% respectively. The figures for midwifery students were 30.9%, 49.4% and 19.8% respectively (P=0.721). Between GPA, sex and Duration of study in universities and students’ study approaches differences were not statistically significant. Conclusion: The results showed that students mostly used strategic and deep approaches. The rate of such study approaches will change the way students tend to use deep approaches to increase and the strategic approaches to decrease. Between nursing and midwifery students'study approaches in utilizing of deep and strategic approaches no significant difference was found, but nursing students, mostly used surface approach.

The purpose this studies was to reviews the role of social capital on nurses' participation in sport activities. Methods: This was a survey & cross sectional study that carried out to assess the relation between social capital and sports activities in participation in nurses drawn from hospitals affiliated to state of Yazd city. The study sample includes 144 nurses, which selected via cluster and then randomly sampling. A structured questionnaire of social capital was used to data collection. Reliability of questionnaire was determined by alpha-cronbach correlation method (a=0.78). All statistics were computed using SPSS software (version 11.5) with Pearson, t -test and hierarchical multiple regression. Results: Showed that relation between social capital and nurses participation in sport activities was statistical meaningful (P=0.041). Also, the hierarchical multiple regression analysis results shown that variable enjoyment of exercise, weight loss and skill to perform the sporting movements in the first place and social capital in the second place explained 14.4 and 4.9 percent of variance under variable nurses participation in sport activities respectively. Conclusion: Pearson correlation test showed that between social capital and the rate of nurses participation in sporting activities there is a significant relationship. But social capital unable to explain many parts of the variance is not a variable under study. While other the phsio-psycho-social variables to be able to explain a larger part of the variance under study have been variable. Therefore, in this area should review other variables are influential.
