Abstract: 

Objective: The main purpose of this research is determining the information infrastructures of offering information services in high school libraries in terms of building, equipment, human resources, financial resources and, the manner of offering services and complex making has been paid attention to.Methodology: The method of research is survey-descriptive based on collecting data on questionnaires. The statistical population consists of 63 school libraries available in government and privately funded school libraries in high school and pre-university schools that all are surveyed.Findings: The findings show that 80% under-study schools had independent library and 18% lacked independent library. The school without independent space for library use school chapel and spiritual training room (36.5%). Over 70% of schools are at low level regarding equipment.About 55% of schools don’t have independent librarian in which the spiritual trainer performs library affairs. In all the schools, libraries lack the defined budget and their financing is done through school capita donation and temporary allocation. Library resources are done in terms of requiring information from teachers and students. The subject coverage of library is distributed as 87% for religion, the maximum, and 4% for computer, the minimum. The accessibility method is performed through open shelf in 63% schools. Library services are available in the breaks and training classes.Conclusion: Information infrastructures of offering information services in high school libraries in terms of building, equipment, human resources, financial resources and, the manner of offering services and policy are not in good condition.

Abstract: 

Objective: Today the world is going rapidly toward getting digitized. Actually this has influenced various sciences, and Library and information sciences, too.. Traditional libraries also need to offer virtual reference services and new information services. This article discusses the quality and method of librarianship education at universities of Iran.Methodology: Content analysis is used to analyze instructional texts and comparison of library science departments’ syllabuses, the next step has been to investigate the information and reference service skills and competencies of librarians of various types of libraries through survey method and questionnaire.Conclusion: The comparison of the results of the investigating and content analyzing of the library science syllabuses in universities of Iran and the survey of librarians show that the instructional texts being used for teaching information and reference services are not up-to-date and efficient.

Abstract: 

Objective: The main purpose of this research is to evaluate the Libraries of Tehran Province Oil Industry according to Iranian Special Libraries Standards. There are 8 main Factors: Objects & Duties, Organization & management, Employees, Acquisition, Classification, Services to clients, Building & equipments, Budget to evaluate these libraries.Methodology: The survey and comparative method has been used for this research. For gathering the information a questionnaire was designed which was based on the Iranian Special Libraries Standards. The statistical sample of this study is 21 libraries of Tehran Province Oil Industry.Findings: For evaluating Libraries of Tehran Province Oil Industry according to Iranian Special Libraries Standards, 113 factors were considered. The information of Objects & Duties, Organization & management, Employees, Acquisition, Classification, Services to clients, Building & equipments and Budget of the studied libraries were provided. The results of the research show that in 95, 62, 81, 100, 76, 67, 57, and 52 percent of studied libraries.Conclusion: The standards regularly have been considered and the hypothesis of the research confirmed. Finally some suggestions are proposed for improvement.

Abstract: 

Objective: Information and communication technologies have created new horizons to eradicate the limitations of traditional interactive systems. Providing electronic public services in libraries is one of the optimum applications of these technologies. This applied research, investigated the attitude of users of academic libraries in providing electronic public services in academic libraries.Methodology: To achieve the objectives, descriptive- analytical method is used. The research community was selected by stratified random sampling among Tehran university students, using researcher made questionnaire.Findings: The results showed that the amount of cognitions of the students about the various kinds of electronic public services was below the average. General attitude of the students of the different universities in Tehran to provide such services was positive, and their education level in this kind of attitude was ineffective.Conclusion: There was a significant positive correlation between the students’ use of electronic public services and the amount of their cognition about these services, and also between their attitude and cognition about the aforementioned services.

Abstract: 

Objective: The present study was performed to determine the attitudes of Mazandaran Province public librarians towards the structural and behavior barriers of participative management.Methodology: In this study, the data was collected by questionnaire. The society was all of the Mazandaran province public librarians. Kruskal–Wallis test and Mann–Whitney U test were used for of the hypothesis and Wallis and Friedman tests was used for answering the questions.Findings: The present study indicates that there is significant relationship between the attitudes of the public librarians towards the participative management, considering the sex, experiences, organizational position level of education and study field. Also Friedman test showed that lack of official ranking in accordance with the mean level of 4.92 as the first priority and as a main structural barrier in executing the participative management in the public libraries, and use of wrong procedures and wrong individual instructions with mean level of 4.82 as the first priority and as one of the main behavior barrier in performing the participative management.Conclusion: The present study considers special attention to the public librarians and the results of the survey could help the managers, and library administrators and the librarians in successful performing of the participative management and releasing the barriers.

Abstract: 

Objective: effective reading is one of the characteristics of scientific developments of the country. the role of the university students is inevitable in this development. The present research, studies the amount of awareness of the architecture students of the IAU of Mashhad of different reading techniques according to their gender and academic grade.Methodology: the research method is descriptive survey. The statistical population includes the whole 1657 architecture students of first semester of 1389-90 in both stages of, undergraduate students and graduate students.Finding: They show that the graduate students have more awareness in comparison with the undergraduates regarding reading techniques. Also in most reading techniques, there are meaningful significances among students based on their gender.Conclusion: The results show that unfortunately the amount of the awareness of the students is very weak and it can be one of the results of their drop of learning quality. However paying more attention to the guidelines of the reading techniques in their curricula can make an improvement in this regard.

Abstract: 

Objective: The purpose of this research is to identify the information seeking skills of Bachelors students studying at Payam-e Noor University, Qom Branch.Methodology: The research method is descriptive survey and in order to gather data, the questionnaire was used. Among all statistical population, 200 students were chosen through random cluster method. In order to carry out the statistical issues, the SPSS software was used.Findings: The most important goals of the students in terms of information seeking are preparing their assignments (29%), accessing to updated information (23%) and carrying out the scientific researches. The textbooks (38%) and the periodic journals (19%) were used as the printed information resources, by the students, respectively. Among the facilities used for seeking information, use of internet web with 42% and e-mail with 21% as well as chat rooms with 18% were with the highest frequency values. The tools used on the internet by the students were search engines (26%), Meta search engines and information portals (17%), using URL (12%), and introducing sites in newsletters and journals (11%) are also mentioned. For accessing published information, lack of knowledge about using the library indexes (20%) was featured with the highest frequencies.Conclusion: 94% of female students and 84% of male students have problem using printed and internet information resources. The students used internet with an average frequency of 33%. The most important problem in accessing to internet is the slow speed and the traffic of the net. There is a need for more education for using internet as they mentioned. Also, there is a meaningful relationship between the sex and use of internet as well as the Bachelors students studying at Payam-e Noor University, Qom Branch and modern information science technologies.

Abstract: 

Objective: The purpose of this paper is the link analysis of Websites of Islamic Science Centers in Qom through webometric.Methodology: Link analysis which is a sub domain of webometric, in-links, total is used in this research, links, number of indexed webpage, Web Impact Factor (WIF) were calculated and analysis through yahoo site explorer. The statistical community is 79 websites of Islamic Science Centers in Qom.Finding: The result showed, the websites noorsoft and emamhadi had the most and least visibility respectively. Rafed website has toppest rank and soim has lowest rank in total-link. The websites mahdi313 had the most WIF and womenrc and al-milani had the least WIF. In this investigation 20 website were selected as the core websites.Conclusion: Three websites had the best level of link visibility (32.17%),reason behind this are multi lingual, simple access, search utilities, having full-text resources, and acceptable level of information. 70.8% of websites have number of pages less than 1%.1.2% of website has WIF more than 1000 and 98.7% ones have WIF less than 1000. Low impact of 99% of investigated websites environment was the reason of this fact.
